FF Audio Program: Ep. 2 Lake Forest Park
This episode is a piece called Lake Forest Park, written and narrated by Jessica McQuarrie. It chronicles my experiences working at the local farmers markets and explores themes of white suburbia through the lens of my childhood growing up outside of Spokane.
As always, my project here is to provoke thoughtful discussion. Please feel free to leave me feedback or start that conversation here or on my Instagram @FeministFatal.
The idea of a "structure of feeling" explored throughout the piece is a reference to the theory coined by Marxist Theory scholar Raymond Williams, who essentially argues that the purpose of literature is not to tell us some factual truth, but to imitate the structures of feeling in every day life under capitalism(or any social/political/economic structure) to lead to a better subconscious understanding of it. That is the point of this piece as well.
